Avoid writer’s block: some tips

Here are an offbeat number of ways to scramble your brain and get started writing again.  It’s crazy tips to help you avoid writer’s block.

  1. Change locations:  when stuck I go to a coffeeshop down the block, or go to the apartment library.  It helps.
  2. Practice self-care.  I walk 5 miles a day.  Yoga and meditation also help.
  3. Take a trip to the local library.  i was there today.
  4. Run errands or do chores.
  5. Clear your desk.  I did and now it’s a mess again.
  6. Join a writing group.  I just quit mine.
  7. Talk to another writer.
  8. Tackle other projects.  Don’t do what I did.  Overwork.
  9. Self-promotion
  10. Bag the days.  Some days are just blah.
  11. Use sensory details in your writing.
  12. Connect to your main character.
  13. Reverse the writing problem, like reversing the inciting incident,
  14. Create on-going suspense by divulging some of the conflict.
