As heat rises, I’m blocked

As heat rises, I’m blocked.   I have fibromyalgia and as the temperature soars, I find myself writing less.  I wrote lots of poems in the last two weeks but as the temperature approached 90, I just wanted to sleep.

I went to my hypnotherapist today and nearly fell asleep in his waiting room.  I went to bed very early last night, woke up early, but I find myself wanting to sleep and not write anything.  I am reading a good book, Fearless Writing, which has some good ideas about writing in flow and writing a story based on what you live.

But I can’t take my own advice.  I even have air conditioning but its either too cold or too warm in the apartment.

I tried writing a poem this morning but it was lousy. Unlike the other ones I wrote in the last two weeks.  With global warming, my block looks like it might last all summer.  I moved to Portland because summers were cool.  Well, that’s no longer true.

It will be above 90 for the next seven days. i have to figure some way around this.

If any of you have figured out how to write in the heat, tell me.  I used to stay up until 2 am and write then.  But I find it easier with fibromyalgia to go to sleep early and get up early.

Maybe I can write when I get up.  Tomorrow grocery shopping before it hits 80 degrees.

I’ll think of something.
