Accepting uncertainty and doubt can get you writing again.

Somewhere a lot of us has picked up the notion that other people are living confidently, without doubt and uncertainty.  That’s what the tabloids and most TV shows offer.

But it isn’t true.  Everyone has crises of confidence and spells of uncertainty all the time.

Accepting that uncertainty is part of the process, frees up the process. Allowing yourself to feel doubt– that it’s OK and something that everyone goes through– will get you passed a block that has sprung up because you are unrealistic expecting to feel differently than you do.

Buddha’s insight that “life is suffering” is helpful here.  I phrase it differently–“Life is tough for just about everyone” helps me accept my dark emotions much more comfortably.

Expecting to feel differently that we do is one way to get yourself tied up in knots.

Try accepting everything just as it is, is a way to get writing again.
